Mixing Metals in a Room

Posted by Donna Dorrell on

In interior design, there is the idea that if you use one type of metal, such as stainless steel, in one part of the room then you must use that same type of metal throughout.

This is simply not the case.

In fact, if you use the same type of metal throughout the room, the design may not be as cohesive as you expect.  For example, using stainless steel can make the room feel a little cold and uninviting.

If you mix your metals, especially metals of different types and colors, then you can instead bring warmth and additional design elements to your room.  The key is to use metals as accents, using one metal in one part of the room, another in another, but still accenting the first metal elsewhere.

There is so much you can do with metals and if you dare to use different types of metals, then you can elevate your design to a whole new level.
